No more junk food?
More food choice restrictions are coming from the White House, and this time, some parents might think the government is going a little too far.
First Lady Michelle Obama is an activist and official face for healthy eating efforts, especially with the high obesity rates American children face. The “Smart Snacks in School” standards fall under the Healthy and Hunger Free Kids Act, signed by Obama in 2010. At the start of the 2014-2015 school year, students will have to say, “buh-bye” to their favorite candy bars and chips because vending machines will soon be stocked with granola bars, fruits and low calories drinks. The United States Department of Agriculture will implement the new rules.
