Scandal star, Kerry Washington, has signed on to take the role of Anita Hill in HBO’s new film, Confirmation.
The HBO telefilm will follow the 1991 Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination hearings in which American attorney, Anita Hill, accuses her supervisor at the U.S Department of Education and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of sexual harassment. Hill’s testimony before Congress has been credited for raising awareness about sexual harassment and modern-day race relations.
Oscar-nominated writer, Susannah Grant (“Erin Brokovich”), will write the script and executive produce the drama. Along with scoring the lead role, Washington will serve as an executive producer and collaborate with Grant.
An air-date for the film hasn’t been released. Many are looking forward to seeing Washington return to her on-set territory of D.C. We’ll definitely stay tuned!
