Zimmerman Asks Florida to Pay Legal Fees
George Zimmerman, the man acquitted of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, is now asking the state of Florida to pay his legal fees. According to Reuters, a report says Zimmerman’s attorney is asking the state to pay up to $300,000 of his legal expenses.
A state law allows defendants who were found not guilty to regain costs associated with the case. Mark O’Mara, Zimmerman’s attorney, says the defense will file a motion soon for $200,000 to $300,000.
Although Zimmerman is not able to recoup attorney fees, he can file payments for costs associated with expert witnesses and an animated video.
