Hate Crime for Woman Who Attacked Black Couple
This Summer, Chicago’s South Shore Cultural Center held a Margarita Festival on July 30th, at which a white suburban woman spewed profanities, including the n-word, at a couple over a bean bag game.
The woman, Jessica Sanders, has officially been charged with a hate crime.
According to DNAInfo, the 26-year-old Alsip, IL resident’s bond has been set at $50,000. She’s also been charged with a hate crime and battery for reportedly knocking the cell phone out of the hand of the victim.
Ernest Crim recorded the racist tirade that was directed at him and his wife.
“What [Sanders] did is just a symptom of something that society, this country, is producing. She’s just outward with it. Before this even happened, this has been a rough summer being a black person,” Crim said.
Sanders was picked up Wednesday for an outstanding warrant. She is also on probation for using racial slurs against a police officer, according to DNA, Info.
