“White People Only” Stickers Anger Austin

Some vandals  are going around the Texas capital city of Austin putting “Exclusively for white people” stickers on local businesses.

Reportedly, six businesses were slammed with the offensive stickers that bore the official city logo and claimed to be approved by Austin’s government, but Austin’s mayor is “outraged” by the racist vandalism.

From CNN:

“This is an appalling and offensive display of ignorance in our city,” Mayor Steve Adler said in a statement. “Our city is a place where respect for all people is a part of our spirit and soul. We will keep it that way.”

The businesses targeted didn’t know about the stickers until they saw them affixed to their buildings. While they’re certain of six businesses being targeted, Austin officials are unsure how many businesses were hit as many considered the stickers to be vandalism and simply threw them away upon seeing them. Officials believe the stickers were likely put up over night between midnight on Tuesday and early Wednesday morning.

The stickers rudely state that the businesses are “exclusively for white people” and that there can only be five “colored” people on the premises at any give time and can only have five “colored” BOH (back-of-house) employees.
