Self Defense in George Zimmerman Shooting
The man accused of firing at former Florida neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman used the state’s Stand Your Ground defense after claiming he feared for his life.
On Monday, Matthew Apperson shot at Zimmerman during a road rage incident in Lake Mary, Fla. The bullet missed Zimmerman, but the windshield was shattered, causing minor injuries to his face.
Apperson’s lawyer, Mark NeJame, says his client was simply defending himself after Zimmerman allegedly waved a gun at him.
“What happened today, he was legally justified to do,” NeJame told CNN.
Zimmerman is denying the accusations. He was treated for minor injuries and released soon after the incident.
