Update on Grosse Pointe Police Protest

Protesters have come forward to participate in Malik Shabazz’s movement against the Department of Public Safety officers in Grosse Pointe Park following the recent allegations of police officers harassing African American men and instructing them to sing, dance, or act like animals on camera.

Shabazz, head of the Marcus Garvey Movement/New Black Panther Nation, held a meeting with the police leaders to get a more extensive investigation going, according to Huffington Post Black Voices. Taking it a step further, the protesters tried to seek an independent investigation with the Michigan State Police and/or federal government to ensure that justice will be served.

Shabazz has stated he will give officials a week to give the public an update.
