Trial for Jordan Davis Murder Underway
In November 2012, Jordan Davis was listening to music at a Florida gas station with his friends. Sadly, the 17-year-old never returned home.
Now, the trial has begun for Michael Dunn, the man accused of fatally shooting the teenager. Dunn allegedly fired his weapon eight to nine times at the vehicle containing Jordan and his friends because he “feared for his safety.”
Dunn faces first-degree murder charges, as well as three counts of attempted first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty.
Jury selection was scheduled to take place Monday and the case has already been compared to the Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman case because of Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law. State Attorney Angela Corey is also expected to prosecute the case, according to CNN.
JET will continue to follow this case closely.
