Atlanta Police Department spokesperson Donald Hannah told CNN Pierce was taken into custody at the Loews Atlanta Hotel where he was staying as a guest. He was booked and released on $1,000 bond, according to Fulton County Sheriff’s Office records. reports that Pierce, who is a strong supporter of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, got into a discussion with an unidentified man and woman in the hotel’s lobby early Sunday morning. The conversation became heated when the woman said she was a Bernie Sanders supporter, which led to Pierce allegedly assaulting them.  However, The Daily Beast reported the woman walked into a confrontation that was already taking place.

The actor’s representatives have not yet released a statement.
