After a quick bout with a viral infection that forced Serena Williams to drop out of the Wimbledon tournament, the tennis star bounced back quickly to claim her third Bank of West Classic title.

After winning the championship in 2011 and 2012, the athlete took home this year’s trophy after defeating No. 8 Angelique Kerber of Germany in a 7-6 (1), 6-3 victory.

Although the 32-year-old is back in full swing, she still plans to undergo a few test after the season wraps and recently opened up about the illness that left her bedridden for three days.

“It was interesting and I was scared after,” she told the Associated Press. “I didn’t realize how I felt until later. In the moment I didn’t realize how sick I was. It’s weird but that’s the fight in me. I never know when to say when.”
