Ex-Raven Donates Kidney to Steelers Brother
The NFL could use some good news these days!
Last month, Ma’ake Kemoeatu, a former defensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens, donated a kidney to his younger brother, Chris Kemoeatu, a former guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But one of the league’s most heated rivalries couldn’t stand in the way of brotherly love.
On Wednesday, Ma’ake described the reasoning behind his charitable actions at a press conference at the University of Maryland Medical Center on Wednesday, according to The Baltimore Sun.
“I’ve seen him struggle and the last three years of his career, fighting through a lot because of his kidney,” he said. “When we found out he needed a transplant, we had to stop our careers because his health was most important to us.”
The kidney transplant, which took place on August 27, was deemed successful and the Kemoeatu brothers are doing well.
