Gabby Douglas Begins Training for 2016 Olympics
Gabby Douglas is ready to give it all she’s got at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
To prepare, the 18-year-old returned to Iowa this week to begin training with her longtime gymnastics coach Liang Chow. According to an interview with the Des Moines Register, Chow wasn’t sure if the gold medalist would return after her success in London in 2012, but he’s excited to have her back.
“I was a little bit nervous before I saw her, because there were so many questions,” Chow said. “I feel like I know what I’m doing and what we need to do for the next steps.”
Douglas told told the Des Moines Register she’s happy to be back with her “team sisters” as well. Though she relocated to Los Angeles and recently became the subject of a Lifetime biopic, The Gabby Douglas Story, BET reports preparing for Rio is her “main focus and goal.”
