Five Black Women Make U.S. Bobsled Team

Jazmine Fenlator, Pilot

No one tells Jazmine Fenlator that she can’t do something. The Wayne, NJ native still holds the record at her alma mater Rider University for indoor shot put, outdoor shot put and discus. She’s been bobsledding since 2007 and as one of three pilots selected to represent the U.S. at Sochi, Fenlator is responsible for the equipment, herself and her teammates sitting behind her. In her first few years competing Jazmine lost five family members and her mother suffered a debilitating heart attack. Then Hurricane Irene hit in 2011 and she lost what little her family owned including her home. None of it has stopped her from achieving her ultimate goal and that is to prove she is the best at Sochi.
