Lamar Odom Dropped From Knicks

Four months after signing Lamar Odom to a multi-year deal, the New York Knicks have rescinded their contract with the NBA player and reality star.

Odom, 34, has had his fair share of being “benched.” The Los Angeles Lakers traded him to the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. He faced a career-low last December, averaging only 4 points and 5.9 rebounds while with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Now, the Knicks have replaced Odom with Cole Aldrich, citing disappointment with the forward’s performance.

“Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player,” Knicks president Phil Jackson said in a statement, Us Weekly Magazine reports. “We found it necessary to free up the roster spot.”

The statement explains that the Knicks expected Odom to move past the drama in his personal life, regarding his split with Khloe Kardashian and his multiple DUI charges, to step up his game for the team.

“[Knicks president Phil Jackson] gave him a real shot. He kind of threw this one away. He wasn’t in it. He’s not doing great,” a source told Us.

Odom is currently a free agent.
