Jackie Robinson West Accused of Foul Play

It was just in August 2014 that we celebrated the U.S. Championship victory of Chicago little leaguers, Jackie Robinson West. Their ability to compete on the world stage inspired a joyous mood and offered hope to many Windy City Chicago youth.

After the hard work, success and world recognition, their title is now being threatened with allegations that Jackie Robinson West used players from outside of its boundaries to increase chances of their championship victory, reports DNAinfo Chicago.

Speculation that the team cheated began to swarm in December when the Evergreen Park Athletic Association’s vice president filed a formal complaint accusing Jackie Robinson West officials of “manipulating, bending and blatantly breaking the rules for the sole purpose of winning at all costs.”

Initially the case was dropped after Little League International spokesman, Brian McClintock, looked into the allegations and found no evidence.

But a call-in to DNAinfo from volunteers of the Las Vegas team that lost to Jackie Robinson West suggested that the case can’t be “swept under the rug” if the Chicago team changed its boundaries against Little League rules.

The Little League International stated that a final decision on the cheating allegations could come as early as Wednesday.

We hope that in any case, the spirits of the youth will not be shattered and they realize that their overall talent will forever be remembered and marked in history.
