Hector “Macho” Camacho Dies After Shooting in Puerto Rico

It’s sad news for boxing fans. Hector “Macho” Camacho was taken off of life support and declared dead on Saturday, Nov. 24. The Puerto Rican-born, Spanish Harlem-raised boxer had been shot multiple times, including in the neck and face, while sitting in a parked car Tuesday night in Puerto Rico. His friend Adrian Mojica Morena was also shot and died at the scene.
Camacho was initially expected to make a recovery, but after four days of battling for his life, the former boxing champion was laid to rest. The flamboyant Camacho, known for his elaborate costumes and speed in the ring, had a career record of 79-5-3, and three Golden Gloves titles as an amateur.
He is survived by his former wife Amy Torres Camacho; four sons, Hector Jr., Taylor, Christian and Justin; mother and father; three sisters and a brother.
