In the second NCAA Championship Tournament thriller this week, UConn’s women’s team reigned supreme last night with an 82-51 victory over Syracuse to take its fourth consecutive trophy, which makes them the first women’s team to do so.
Led by senior Breanna Stewart, the Huskies extended their winning streak to 75 games — this season alone 38-0. Stewart, along with fellow seniors Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck the team dominated the Syracuse Orange throughout the game, leading 50-23 at the half.
Even Coach Geno Auriemma was amazed at the amount of success his team has seen. “These are not things that you easily put words to,” he told ESPN. “Even us as coaches, we looked at each other after the game and we just kind of shake our heads.”
