The world is mourning the loss of beloved rapper Nipsey Hussle after he was shot and killed Sunday afternoon. While many people took to social media to pay homage to the Grammy-nominated emcee, Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC) baller Russell Westbrook brought his tribute to the basketball court.

The OKC point guard put up 20 points, 20 rebounds and 21 assists for a triple-double. After making a defensive rebound toward the end of OKC’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, Westbrook proclaimed, “That’s for Nipsey!”

After the game, Westbrook caught up with former NBA star-turned-sports correspondent Jason Terry about the historic accomplishment. He said, “I’m grateful to have been in the game. That wasn’t for me. That was for my bro. That was for Nipsey, man. 20 plus 20 plus 20, they know what that means. That was my bro. Rest in peace, man.” Westbrook’s 20 plus 20 plus 20 reference is a nod to the slain rapper’s gang affiliation with the Rolling 60’s sect of California’s Crips gang.

Aside from an honorable tribute to his late friend, Westbrook made history as the second 20-20-20 player in NBA history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The 33-year-old rapper was gunned down in the parking lot of his Marathon Company clothing store in South Central Los Angeles. On Tuesday, Eric Holder, 29, the man suspected of shooting Hussle and injuring two other men, was arrested by Los Angeles police officials in Bellflower, California.
