Report: Chicago Supt. Garry McCarthy Fired

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy has been fired.

The news comes on the heels of mass protests in the city following the release of video footage showing CPD officer Jason Van Dyke fatally shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald 16 times in Oct. 2014.

Sources told the news outlet that headlines from the Laquan McDonald shooting incident and the gang execution of Tyshawn Lee had become too much.

McCarthy was fired early Tuesday.
