PSA Reenacts Trayvon Martin Shooting

In an effort to bring an end to Stand Your Ground laws, an online ad depicting the night 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed has been released.

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence released the video and used actual audio from the 911 calls from George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of the teen’s murder earlier this summer, and a witness.

The group also launched a website for people to petition “Stand Your Ground” laws in 26 states.

According to the group’s mission statement, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence “seeks to secure freedom from gun violence through research, strategic engagement and effective policy advocacy.”

The National Rifle Association (NRA) and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) currently support “Stand Your Ground” laws.
