Prosecutor Reviewing Tamir Rice Investigation
The fate of the Cleveland police officers responsible for the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, is now in the hands of the Cuyahoga County prosecutor’s office.
After months of investigation, the sheriff’s office turned their work over to the prosecutor following an hour-long meeting Wednesday morning, reports Fox 8 Cleveland.
Whether or not the officers will face criminal charges will be depends on Prosecutor Tim McGinty.
Officers involved in Tamir’s untimely death have not spoken to the sheriff’s deputy, according to Fox 8.
Tamir lost his life while at a neighborhood playground. The officers involved claimed to mistake his toy gun for a real one and began firing shots within seconds.
Last month, we reported that Rice’s mother moved out of her house due to the long and overdue conclusion of her son’s death investigation.
McGinty will decide on charges following the investigation review, conduct hearings and bring in a grand jury, or call for further investigation.
