Seahawks Beat Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl

The Seattle Seahawks’ mantra all season was to make each day a championship day. They made Super Bowl Sunday the best day of all with one of the greatest performances in an NFL title game — sparked by a defense that ranks among the best ever. The Seahawks won their first Super Bowl crown in overpowering fashion, punishing Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos 43-8. That masterful defense, the NFL’s stingiest, never let the five-time MVP get going, disarming the highest-scoring offense in league history.

Coke Super Commercial Draws Outrage

The soda maker sparked outrage Sunday night after producing a commercial featuring a multilingual version of “America the Beautiful.” Thousands of Twitter users expressed strong dislike toward the commercial using the hashtag #SpeakEnglish #F*ckCoke. Trial for Jordan Davis Murder Underway

The trial has begun for Michael Dunn, the man accused of fatally shooting Jordan Davis. Dunn allegedly fired his weapon eight to nine times at the vehicle containing Jordan and his friends because he “feared for his safety.” Dunn faces first-degree murder charges, as well as three counts of attempted first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty.

Ride Along No. 1 for Third Week

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are clearly in the business of making money when it comes to comedy. Their movie Ride Along is number-one for a third week and has grossed nearly $100 million domestically, according to the Associated Press.

Black Actors Grace Vanity Fair Hollywood Cover

It appears as though Hollywood is finally taking notice of Black actors. This year, Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue features six (count ’em, SIX!) Black actors and actresses on the cover. The three-page foldout cover by photographer Annie Leibovitz features Oscar nominees Idris Elba, Michael B. Jordan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong’o, Naomie Harris and Chadwick Boseman.
