The terrorist group behind the takeover of a Nairobi mall claimed Wednesday that the Kenyan government assault team carried out “a demolition” of the building, burying 137 hostages in rubble. A government spokesman denied the claim and said Kenyan forces were clearing all rooms, firing as they moved and encountering no one.
Writing a children’s book isn’t enough for Oscar winner Octavia Spencer. She’s also narrating the audio edition. Spencer’s The Case of the Time-Capsule Bandit, one of two planned books for middle schoolers that features 12-year-old vigilante Randi Rhodes, comes out October 15.
Jay Z’s latest collaboration is with Barneys New York, whose flagship store is creating an “immersive gallery space” with him for the holidays. The partnership will include limited-edition Jay Z designs including watches and a humidor, along with products from Balenciaga, Balmain, Lanvin, Proenza Schouler and other designers, all in a palette of black, white, gold and silver.
Just a day after celebrating her 42nd birthday, the Set It Off actress took to social media to admit her struggles with abuse. “I had many addictions, of several kinds, to deal with my life issues, but today, at 42, I have my wisdom, my heart and my conscience as the only tools to overcome life’s inevitable obstacles,” she posted on her Facebook page. She didn’t specify the addictions, but stressed that was a part of her past.
