Health care is reuniting President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton. The two are set to appear together Tuesday to discuss Obama’s health care law at a session sponsored by the Clinton Global Initiative, the former president’s foundation. The joint appearance comes exactly one week before people who don’t have health insurance can start signing up on Oct. 1 for coverage plans through new insurance marketplaces.
Extolling the virtues of Harlem’s rich cultural history, Michelle Obama hosted a luncheon for the spouses of foreign dignitaries Tuesday in the historic New York City neighborhood she described as “quintessentially American.” The first lady spoke to about 50 spouses of chiefs of state and heads of government who are attending the UN General Assembly. The group toured The Studio Museum in Harlem, which was founded in 1968 by artists and civic and community leaders to provide space for modern and contemporary black art.
Now you can have your fries and eat them, too. On Tuesday, the fast food chain revealed a crinkle-cut fry with about “20 percent fewer calories than its regular fries,” according to the Associated Press. A small order of the new “Satisfries” is said to have 270 calorie, compared to a small order of their non-crinkle counterparts, which has 340 calories. The difference is because of a new batter that supposedly doesn’t absorb as much oil.
Well, that was fun while it lasted. The first celebrity to go home on this season of Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) is…former Super Bowl champion Keyshawn Johnson. On Monday night, Johnson and his partner, Sharna Burgess, were sent packing after Johnson fumbled the ramba. Pun intended.
Oh, Kanye, you never cease to amaze. In a recent BBC interview, the rapper called himself “the No. 1 rock star on the planet.” In an hourlong radio interview, he revealed to host Zane Lowe that he thinks of himself as a revolutionary and admitted he wouldn’t exist without Michael Jackson. But then he also said he’s reached a glass ceiling that not even the late King of Pop had obtained. Cocky much?
October is shaping up to be a great month for TLC fans! T-Boz and Chilli are releasing a second international greatest-hits album to coincide with the premiere of their much-hyped VH1 biopic, CrazySexyCool. The latest compilation, 20, is scheduled to drop on October 15 and features a new single, “Meant to Be,” written by Ne-Yo. The biopic, starring Drew Sidora as T-Boz, Lil’ Mama as Left Eye and Keke Palmer as Chilli, premieres October 21.
After a summer of dealing with the “Blurred Lines” controversy, the son of legendary Motown artist Marvin Gaye is expected to host a press conference on Thursday about his critical need for a kidney transplant. According to Marvin Gaye III’s wife, Wendy, her husband experience renal failure about three years ago and has been undergoing dialysis three days a week since then.
Drizzy Drake dropped his third studio album Nothing Was the Same on Tuesday. Jay Z makes a cameo in the last track, “Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music,” which is the only collaboration on the record. What do you think of Drake’s latest effort?
