Navy Yard Shooter Dies, 12 Others Killed

The D.C. mayor says 13 people have died in the shooting rampage, including the gunman. Mayor Vincent Gray said at a news conference Monday afternoon that the shooter was among the dead. Officials say the gunman has been identified as 34-year-old Aaron Alexis. Earlier in the day, authorities had been looking for two other people who may have been involved in the shooting.

Officer Charged with Killing Jonathan Ferrell

A North Carolina police officer accused of shooting and killing an unarmed man who had apparently been in an automobile wreck was scheduled to appear in court Monday to face a voluntary manslaughter charge. Jonathan A. Ferrell, 24, a former Florida A&M University football player, was killed early Saturday. He had sought help at a nearby house, according to a statement from Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. A woman answered the door and, when she didn’t recognize the man, called 911.

Canelo Alvarez proved nothing more than easy money for Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather turned one of the richest fights ever into just another $41.5 million payday Saturday night, dominating Alvarez from the opening bell and winning a majority decision in a masterful performance that left no doubt who the best fighter of his era is.

Patti Webster represented big time names like Usher, Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys during her career. The 49-year-old publicist died Friday. Before her death, she was living with brain cancer. She created W&W Public Relations in 1991.

Steve McQueen’s film won the audience award, or People’s Choice Award, at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. The movie is expected to hit theaters on Oct. 18.

The media mogul lost a $1-million bet to fellow rapper Rick Ross over the weekend. The private craps shoot took place in Las Vegas and Diddy posted a video of his epic loss on his Instagram account.
