The D.C. mayor says 13 people have died in the shooting rampage, including the gunman. Mayor Vincent Gray said at a news conference Monday afternoon that the shooter was among the dead. Officials say the gunman has been identified as 34-year-old Aaron Alexis. Earlier in the day, authorities had been looking for two other people who may have been involved in the shooting.
A North Carolina police officer accused of shooting and killing an unarmed man who had apparently been in an automobile wreck was scheduled to appear in court Monday to face a voluntary manslaughter charge. Jonathan A. Ferrell, 24, a former Florida A&M University football player, was killed early Saturday. He had sought help at a nearby house, according to a statement from Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. A woman answered the door and, when she didn’t recognize the man, called 911.
Canelo Alvarez proved nothing more than easy money for Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather turned one of the richest fights ever into just another $41.5 million payday Saturday night, dominating Alvarez from the opening bell and winning a majority decision in a masterful performance that left no doubt who the best fighter of his era is.

A fan couldn’t resist the urge to touch Beyonce Sunday at a concert in Brazil. She was performing her popular song, “Irreplaceable,” for the Mrs. Carter World Tour when someone grabbed her and pulled her into the crowd. Security stepped in. After the song, Beyonce told the fan, “It’s alright,” and actually shook her hand, Cosmopolitan.com says.
