John Edward Allen, a New Mexico veteran who served as a Tuskegee Airman during World War II and later earned honors for his Air Force service during the Vietnam War, died Tuesday after a long battle with cancer. He was 84.
Oprah Winfrey helped the front-runner in the Democratic primary for New Jersey Senate raise cash while his opponents participated in an NAACP debate. Winfrey joined Cory Booker in Jersey City for the Thursday fundraiser, where donors paid between $1,000 and $2,600 a head.
