President Barack Obama has decided to hold off on naming a new chairman (or woman?) for the Federal Reserve until this fall. The top contenders for current chairman Ben Bernanke are former Obama economic adviser Larry Summers and Janet Yellen, the Fed’s current vice chairwoman. If chosen, Yellen would be the first woman to hold the position.
On Thursday, a nurse anesthetist who treated the late pop singer testified in court that Michael Jackson had a “high tolerance for certain drugs.” Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, is suing concert promoter AEG Live, LLC for negligence in her son’s death.
The rapper was arrested early Friday morning and charged with driving under the influence. He was released, but a contradictory report from his publicist denies DMX was arrested for drunk driving. Who do you believe?
LeBron James plans to stay busy during his offseason. The Miami Heat player announced Friday that he’ll be putting some of his talent to use on a basketball video game franchise. James will work as a music curator for the NBA 2K14 soundtrack So far, he has selected 20 songs for the upcoming video game. Out of all the athletes, he’s the first to appear on the cover of the game and he says he feels honored. Sounds like a pretty cool accomplishment. Good job, King James.
Kyrie Irving is having one heck of an off-season. On top of becoming the face of EA Sports’ NBA Live ’14, the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard stole the show as he led the White team to a 128-106 victory in the Team USA scrimmage last night. The young baller who walked away from the game with 23 points (which ironically is his jersey number), is playing among some of the greatest talents in the league in hopes of earning a spot on the 2014 World Cup team.
If anybody can rescue Lindsay Lohan, maybe it’s Oprah. The OWN Network announced that it will tape an exclusive interview set to air in August, followed by an eight-part series slated debut in 2014. Work your magic, Ms. Winfrey.
