Former House of Representatives clerk Lorraine Miller well take the reins of the NAACP as interim president and CEP while a search to replace Benjamin Jealous gets underway. Jealous announced his resignation last month and Miller is set to take over day-to-day responsibilities next Friday, November 1.
Blues music legend B.B. King was honored during the 2013 National Arts Awards in New York City on Monday night. Other honorees included Dakota Fanning, John and Mary Pappajohn, Joel Shapiro and Alberto Carvalho. Fellow blues singer Buddy Guy was also on hand for the festivities. The event raised more than $800,000 in support of the arts and arts education.
On Kim’s 33rd birthday Monday, Kanye proposed (finally!) with a 15-carat $6 million Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring in front of all their friends and family at San Francisco’s AT&T Park. Kanye, in typically Yeezy fashion, went BIG…literally. He lit up the Jumbotron with the words “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!”

A missing Atlanta man has been found in California’s Death Valley. Joggers discovered the body of 24-year-old Ryan Singleton on September 21 and police informed Singleton’s mother, Iris Flowers, that the body was missing its eyes, heart, lungs and other organs. There is currently no cause of death and police believe animals may have been involved; however, Flowers suspects foul play.
Crammed into conference rooms with pizza for dinner, some programmers building the Obama administration’s showcase health insurance website were growing increasingly stressed. Some worked past 10 p.m., energy drinks in hand. Others rewrote computer code over and over to meet what they considered last-minute requests for changes from the government or other contractors.

The multi-genre, multi-platform music cable network can be found on Comcast’s Xfinity TV and Time Warner Cable in select cities nationwide including: Florida, New York and Los Angeles. Chicago and other regions across the country are expected to launch soon.
