The Missouri State Fair on Monday permanently banned a rodeo clown whose imitation of President Barack Obama getting charged by a bull has been widely criticized as disrespectful. Fair officials said the rodeo clown has been barred from ever performing at the fair again and they are also reviewing whether to take any actions against the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association, the contractor that was responsible for Saturday’s event.
The office of the South African president says Nelson Mandela remains in critical condition although his health is gradually improving. In a statement Sunday, President Jacob Zuma said Mandela is making a “slow but steady improvement.”
After the former Liberian President Charles Taylor left the country, the 14-year civil war ended. Monday marks the 10-year anniversary and his ex-wife, Jewel Taylor, who has since become a senator, says the war could have been “necessary,” according to the Associated Press. She says other countries have gone through a crisis of some form. Well, that’s a way to put a positive spin on something.
While playing against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Park, a fan threw a banana at Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones, who is Black. Jones responded to the incident on Twitter and said he may leave social media soon. The Giants are reviewing the surveillance video.
Can’t say we didn’t see this one coming. According to TMZ, a judge threw out the racial discrimination lawsuit against Paula Deen because the plaintiff, Lisa Jackson, is White. But it’s not over quite yet. Jackson also made sexual harassment claims.
Boy, that was quick! Not even two months after filmmaker George Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson of Ariel Investments, tied the knot, the couple welcomed Everest Hobson Lucas into the world on Aug. 9. The baby girl is the first biological child for the couple and she was delivered via surrogate.
Cee Lo Green says the rapper hasn’t recorded any new music because of “severe case of stage fright.” Huh? But another source speculates that Andre 3000 has a solo album coming out the beginning of next year. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens…
A Tennessee judge put her foot down when she ordered parents to change their 7-month-old son’s name from Messiah to Martin because only Jesus Christ earned it. Hmm, wonder what T.I., who also has a son named Messiah, would have to say about that?
Well here we go again, some more Breezy drama. As you probably heard, Chris Brown was supposedly taken to the hospital last Friday due to a seizure. Before you start feeling sorry for him, you should know that he’s blaming those who bring negative vibes his way as the cause, at least according to his representative. Wasn’t he just crying about quitting music after his last album?
Renowned artist, Donnie McClurkin, did not perform at the Martin Luther King Memorial concert on Saturday as scheduled. When gay rights activists objected to his appearance, the “We Fall Down” singer backed out, claiming on Twitter he was uninvited and “asked not to attend.”
As if being told she couldn’t afford an expensive handbag weren’t enough, radio show host Rush Limbaugh is blaming the incident on Mama O’s weight. “Maybe it’s because the Oprah’s fat…Don’t most people think the fat and the obese are poor and stupid?” Let’s hope he really doesn’t want a response to that question.
The tennis star is making room for another trophy on her awards shelf. On Sunday, Williams took home the Roger’s Cup title after defeating Sorana Cirstea in a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Congratulations, Serena!
