Two days before attention shifts to the Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, the White House is trying to create a little buzz for America’s future filmmakers. At a film festival Friday afternoon, President Barack Obama will recognize the best of nearly 2,500 films — 16 to be exact — that were submitted by K-12 students after the White House put out the call for short videos on the role technology plays in their education. It’s one of the president’s favorite subjects.
Former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper surrendered to Los Angeles police after being named in a warrant involving a rape case in New Orleans. Sharper, 38, also is under investigation in sexual assault cases in Florida, Nevada and Arizona and has pleaded not guilty to rape charges in Los Angeles. Sharper’s surrender Thursday night had been arranged in advance, LAPD Officer Bruce Borihan said. He was being held at the downtown Metropolitan Detention Center.
Celebrity makeup artist Tia Dantzler is the new global creative director for Fashion Fair Cosmetics, which is owned by Johnson Publishing Company and is the first and largest Black-owned cosmetics company in the world. In her new position, Dantzler will assist in “developing, marketing and creating products, in addition to leading training initiatives for the established beauty brand,” according to a press release.
Now, we’re not sure exactly what was said, but in this video clip, it appears as though the legendary Chaka Khan was not feeling a reporter’s reference to Beyonce. The correspondent for Hollywood Today told the diva she looked “Flawless” and then Chaka Khan delivered the mother of eye rolls while muttering something indecipherable under her breath.
