Jason Collins Becomes NBA’s 1st Openly Gay Player

Jason Collins heard his name called by Nets coach Jason Kidd early in the second quarter and headed to the scorer’s table to check in. When he walked onto the court, Collins became the first openly gay athlete to play in one of the United States’ four major professional leagues. He understood the significance attached to his appearance in an NBA game, but he had a job to do.

Tamron Hall to Co-Host Today Show

Congratulations to Tamron Hall! The MSNBC anchor has become the first Black woman to co-anchor the Todayshow. She will join Al Roker, Natalie Morales and Willie Geist on the third hour of the weekday morning show at 9 a.m. ET.

High school sweethearts and Hollywood power couple Robin Thicke and Paula Patton have reportedly filed for separation. They sent the following statement to People magazine: ”We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”

The rumor mill is abuzz that Brandy and her boo, Ryan Press, have called time-out on their engagement. Speculation about the split started back during the “I Wanna Be Down”singer’s 35th birthday bash when Press wasn’t seen in pictures of the event, even though sources later revealed that he was indeed present.

On Sunday, Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes hosted a baby shower for the show’s star, Kerry Washington. The party took place in the backyard of Rhimes’s home and about 50 people attended. Scandal returns this Thursday, Feb. 27.
