Trending: #LeekMoss Killed by Harrisburg Police

Officials are investigating the shooting death of a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man killed by police.

According to reports, police were called to the 2300 block of Green Street in Harrisburg for a domestic disturbance around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Dauphin County dispatchers said.

They say Earl Pinckney — also known as Leek Moss — had a knife to his mother’s throat when officers entered the second-floor bedroom. Officers say police ordered Pinckney to drop the knife and he refused.

At one point, the woman attempted to flee from the man, but he grabbed her and pulled her back, ABC 27 reports.

One officer fired a single shot, striking and killing Pinckney. Officers performed CPR, but could not resuscitate him.

The officer is currently on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Police Chief Thomas Carter urged the public to be patient and calm during the investigation. He also called for people to get all the facts before spreading misinformation on social media.
