Did Police Beat Ferguson Shooting Suspect?

Police are denying they beat a man who has been linked to the shooting of two police officers during a protest in Ferguson, Missouri.

A lawyer for Jeffery L. Williams, 20, claims his client was beaten by police when they took him into custody over the shooting. Attorney Jerryl Christmas said Williams had bruises across his back and shoulders and a welt on his head, but that police would not allow him to take pictures of the injuries when he met with his client.

Police say Christmas’ claims are “completely false.”

Williams, who appeared in court briefly Monday, is charged with two counts of first-degree assault. If convicted he could potentially face 10-to-30 years incarceration or even life in prison.
