Olympic track and field star Brittney Reese made history when she claimed her 6th World Gold Medal in the long jump at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday night.
The 29-year-old won in dramatic fashion by jumping 7.22m in her final jump.
“I’m elated to bring another Gold medal home for Team USA. This win means a lot to me because I put in a lot of work to battle back from hip surgery which affected me last year,” Reese said in a statement sent to JET. “My coach, trainers and workout teammates helped me tremendously to prepare for the World Championships.”
Reese, who won her 9th USA national title at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships to put her in the position to go for Gold at the World Championships.
Now, she will focus on preparing to defend her London Olympic Gold at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
