Obama’s Step-Brother to Run For Governor of Kenyan County

Malik Obama, 54, the African step-brother of President Barack Obama, is planning to run in a primary this March for governor of the Kenyan county of Siaya.
According to Bloomberg News, Malik Obama will compete as an independent candidate in the elections that will be held for the first time since 2007. “Siaya county is facing a lot of problems from poor infrastructure to poverty due to bad leadership,” he said. “I will change this if elected.”
The county has a population of 842,000 people and a poverty rate of 35.3 percent.
