NYPD Officer Puts Pregnant Woman in Chokehold
It appears that policemen’s weapon of choice nowadays is the chokehold, because another member of the NYPD was captured on camera allegedly using this illegal maneuver on a citizen, according to the New York Daily News.
This time, the victim was a seven-month pregnant woman named Rosan Miller. In photos released by a local advocacy group, the 27-year-old is shown struggling with a cop whose arm is around her neck.
The scuffle occurred when officers went to her home over the weekend because she was grilling on a public sidewalk. The encounter ended with Miller, her brother and husband all in handcuffs.
Her brother, John Miller, was charged with harassment and obstruction of justice; her husband, Moses Miller, was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction; and Rosan Miller was summoned for disorderly conduct.
This incident comes just a couple of weeks after 43-year-old Eric Garner was killed when a New York policeman put him in an chokehold. The tussle was also caught on tape, and the case is currently under investigation.
