Nigerian Singer Offers Virginity for Return of Girls
So many people have rallied for the return of the more than 200 Nigerian girls kidnapped by Boko Haram two months ago. Citizens have protested, visited top politicians, begun the #BringBackOurGirls campaign … and offered their virginity.
Yes, you read that correctly. Nigerian singer Adokiye Kyrian made that shocking proposal during an interview with Vanguard’s Showtime, explaining that she would allow Boko Haram to deflower her in exchange for the missing girls.
“It is just unfair. They are too young. I wish I could offer myself in exchange,” she stated.
The 23-year-old went on to say, “They are between 12- and 15-year-old girls for Christ sake. I am older and more experienced. Even if 10 to12 men have to take me every night, I don’t care. Just release these girls and let them go back to their parents.”
Whether or not the entertainer was serious is unclear, but we’re uncertain if her shocking proposal would be very beneficial.
Efforts to return the victims to safety since the first abduction have proven to be ineffective as only 57 hostages have escaped. In fact, the terrorist group captured an additional 60 girls and 31 boys this week, and Nigerian police banned protests earlier this month.
