NFL’s Geno Smith Suffers Broken Jaw In Fight

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will have surgery following a locker room fight with reserve linebacker Ikemefuna ‘IK’ Enemkpali, the Daily Mail reports.

Smith, 24, suffered a broken jaw after being punched by Enemkpali on Tuesday. He is expected to return to the league in six to ten weeks following his surgery.

The Jets released Enemkpali after the “childish altercation.”

Smith’s jaw was broken in two places, and was reportedly thrown by Enemkpali because he believed the athlete owed him $600.

The linebacker allegedly bought Smith a plane ticket to attend his football camp in Texas last month. After Smith didn’t attend due to loss of a loved one, Enemkpali demanded to be reimbursed for the cost.

Head Coach Todd Bowles released the following statement on the incident during a press conference Tuesday.

“It’s something we don’t tolerate, something we can’t stand,” Bowles said. “You don’t walk up to another man and punch him in the face.”
