NAACP Will Not Honor Donald Sterling

Donald Sterling will no longer receive Lifetime Achievement Award from the NAACP.

When media outlets discovered the NAACP had been planning to honor Clippers owner Donald Sterling at a banquet next month, the backlash was inevitable.

Originally, the L.A. chapter of the organization was going to honor Sterling with a lifetime achievement award on May 15; however, in light of recent racist comments allegedly made by Sterling, the group sent the following tweet:


According to the LA Times, Sterling also received an award from the NAACP in 2009 when he was facing a discrimination lawsuit. It is unknown at this time whether the event will still take place.
