My Lord: Woman Has 3 Sets of Twins in 2 Years

A Kansas City mother has delivered not one, not two, but three sets of twins in a little over two years.

Danesha Couch, 20, has her hands full with 2-year-old Danarius, 1-year-olds Delilah and Davina and Dalanie and Darla who were born last month.

“People just consider me a freak of nature when I tell them,” Couch told Fox 4.

Danesha and her fiance conceived her children without the assistance of fertility treatment. Her oldest, Danarius, is a twin too. His brother Desmond died shortly after birth from complications of prematurity.

“That was a pretty bad time,” Couch recalled. She thought it was an unlikely occurrence when she conceived twins a second time. As for the third set, Couch said she just loves babies.

The odds of having three sets of twins is 1 in 88,000.

“The fact that you’ve ever done it before makes you more likely to do it again,” said Dr. Elizabeth Wickstrom of Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Dr. Wickstrom said it’s true with fraternal twins but not identical twins. She also added that women of African descent are more likely to have multiple multiples.

“I release more than one egg at a time,” said Couch.

Couch, who has attempted to apply for benefits but was denied, has started a GoFundMe page to assist with her growing family.
