Minimum Wage to Increase on Jan. 1
Good news for (some) employees receiving minimum wage.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2014, minimum wage will increase in 13 states and four cities across the country, resulting in higher paychecks for workers.
According to CNN, employees in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island will see the biggest increase. Those in New Jersey will receive $8.25 an hour, while employees in Connecticut will receive $8.70 and those in Rhode Island and New York will earn $8 an hour.
After Jan. 1, there will be 21 states offering wages higher than the federal standard of $7.25 an hour. But perhaps the biggest jump will come to the workers of SeaTac near Seattle-Tacoma Airport in Washington, where voters approved an increase to $15 an hour.
