Michael Brown’s Family File Wrongful Death Suit

Lesley McSpadden and Michael Brown Sr., the parents of Michael Brown, plan to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Ferguson.

According to the family’s attorney, Anthony Gray, the announcement will be made on Thursday.

Michael Brown, an African American teen from the St. Louis suburb, was shot and killed by Darren Wilson, a white police officer, in August of 2014.

His death sparked a series of violent protests and heightened friction between the law enforcement and citizens of Ferguson.

Last November, a St. Louis grand jury declined to charge Wilson in the shooting, and in March, the Department of Justice followed suit by deciding not to prosecute the former policeman.

Gray believes the new case will “demonstrate to reasonable-minded people” that Wilson’s actions were unlawful and that it will give “a more clear, a more accurate picture of what took place that day.”
