Marissa Alexander to Remain Free

Good news for Marissa Alexander.

The Florida mom who was sentenced to 20 years after firing what she claims was a warning shot at her estranged, abusive husband will remain free while she awaits retrial. According to, a Florida judge voted against revoking Alexander’s bond on Friday.

Earlier this week, the State’s Attorney’s Office filed a motion to have Alexander’s bond revoked on the grounds that she was breaking the rules of her home detention to “run errands.”
