Channel 4 News is confirming that Marissa Alexander, the mother who was originally convicted of  20 years in prison for firing a warning shot at her estranged husband, has been released from jail on a $200,000 bound.

She is currently under home confinement, the station reports.

A number of community activists  agitated for her conviction to be overturned, since her unsuccessful petition to use the Stand Your Ground Law appeared to demonstrate an uneven application of the defense.

Alexander is not out of the woods yet.   She is up for a retrial in March, but her ability to spend this holiday at home has got to be wonderful for her family and supporters.

JET will continue to follow this case.
