Mali Hotel Attacked by Islamist Extremists

Islamist extremists armed with guns and throwing grenades attacked the Radisson Blu hotel in Mali’s capital Friday morning, Associated Press reports.

Malian, American and French troops reacted quickly, but not before at least three people lost their lives in the attack.

Malian state TV reported that 80 people have been rescued, after being freed floor by floor by troops.

President Barack Obama said he’s monitoring the situation. A U.S. military official says at least six Americans have been evacuated from the hotel.
