MAC’s IG Page Sees Racist Comments

MAC posted a beautiful image of a Black woman’s lips that brought the ugly out of some.

Late Wednesday evening, the cosmetics brand shared a photo of a Black woman taken backstage during New York Fashion Week.

The photo, a close-range capture of an African-American model wearing a deep purple shade of lipstick caused some of the most racist responses imaginable.

@meepnsjabahshsbs Black women will never be as beautiful as white women. The only argument Blacks have is they have more melanin like that matters Yes white women can get injections and when they do, they are basically flawless. You don’t have anything over them anymore and thats why you get so pissed off, keep lying to yourselves thinking yalls dark asses look better…

@euge_riang nigga lips?

@courtneyjune unfollows

@nicolee_arteaga Them fish lips tho

Many took to MAC’s Instagram page in defense of the model.

@rashekabianka if this had been a white woman with big full lips NONE of this would be happening. this s*** is never gonna stop and it’s sad it really is but #proudtobeblack and wouldn’t have it any other way

@womanist.buzzkill Black women are perfect. Those lips are everything

@keondran We love our fellow sisters that are taking a stand for us with Melanin. We know our self worth and we appreciate you for recognizing that as well

MAC removed some of the negative comments from its page, but has yet to release an official statement.

What a shame, but ignorance has no expiration date.
