Police Prepare for “Louisville Purge” Threats

A real-life version of the movie The Purge is expected to take place in Louisville, Kentucky and Jeffersonville, Indiana this Friday evening.

Dubbed the “Louisville Purge,” the violent crime spree is based on the 2013 thriller in which all crime becomes legal for a 12-hour period.

According to The Courier-Journal, police in both cities are taking the threats seriously and have officers ready to respond.

In light of recent riots in response to the death of unarmed teen Michael Brown, Louisville police spokesman Sgt. Phil Russell told The Courier-Journal “it would be prudent for us to monitor it and to be ready for any possibility.”
