Lil Nas X is having the last laugh. Days after Billboard kicked his single “Old Town Road” off of the Hot Country Songs chart, the Atlanta native teamed up with one of the genre’s biggest names for a remix. According to Rolling Stone, Billy Ray Cyrus will appear on the remixed version of the song. It’s slated to drop midnight.
Cyrus offered extended his support after reports surfaced that the single would’ve made it to No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart if it wasn’t removed. He wrote, “Been watching everything going on with OTR. When I got thrown off the carts, Waylon Jennings said to me “Take this as a compliment” means you’re doing something great! Only Outlaws are outlawed. Welcome to the club!”
He also used a quote from the song in a separate IG post.

A major cosign from one of country music’s biggest names isn’t the only good news Lil Nas X is gearing up for. The original version of “Old Town Road” is at No. 15 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and it’s still gaining momentum.
