LeBron James Tweets Worth $140K Each

LeBron James can tweet for you, but it will cost you about $1,000 per character, ESPN reports.

Opendorse, a company that specializes in monetizing digital and social media campaigns for athletes, says a tweet from King James has the highest value of any U.S. athlete.

James has 3.2 million followers. Each tweet from the NBA star has a value of $139,474, the company stated.

“We’re basically saying that the value of one LeBron tweet is worth $140,000,” Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence told ESPN. “And with that, you will reach 23 million people. It would cost you five times more to reach that many people with a TV ad.”

The company relies on a celebrity’s true reach, activity, quality and overall level of engagement of their audience of followers to determine how much a social media post is worth.

Athletes who fall behind James for the top five spots are Kevin Durant, valued at $66,553, Kobe Bryant, valued at $42,389, Floyd Mayweather, pulling in $34,924 and Dwight Howard at $34,290.

While these athletes may be bringing in dough for their 140 characters, Lawrence said most companies only pay athletes between $1,000 and $2,500 per tweet. The most his company has sold a tweet for was $20,000 during last year’s NFL playoffs.
