Fans of basketball and the 1996 film Space Jam were thrilled when a LeBron James-led sequel was announced. According to recent reports, the Los Angeles Lakers baller is “struggling” to get his fellow NBA stars involved with Space Jam 2.

“He’s been recruiting players to come and try to be in Space Jam with him this summer, and he hasn’t been able to close some of those deals,” NBA reporter Brian Windhorst said during an appearance on ESPN’s The Jump. While he didn’t name-drop, Windhorst said James attempted to get assistance from a slew of influential players. “Some of the top guys he wants to come with him to do the movie,” he said.

Despite the rumored delays, Space Jam 2 is still scheduled to hit theaters on July 21, 2021.
